You receive emails from three different potential sources from DBIS, our own email server (@dbis.edu.hk), Jotform (usually [email protected]) for forms and Mailchimp for our newsletters. Some or all of these may end up in your Spam if your service provider decides they look like Spam.
In order to prevent this happening there are up to three things you can do:
1. Add the email address (or better still, the domain @dbis.edu.hk, which will capture all DBIS emails) to your contact list.
2. In the Spam folder, click the "Not Spam" button for the email.
3. In some mail services, you can set up a specific filter to not send items to Spam.
Here are some whitelisting instructions for some of the major email service providers. The minimum we suggest you do is to add the 'from' email address (username@domain) into your email system's address book.
- Click the cog icon in the top-right corner, and then Settings
- Click on Filters and Create a new filter (you may need to scroll to the bottom).
- Enter @dbis.edu.hk in the From field.
- Click Create filter with this search.
- Select 'Never send it to spam' out of the list of choices.
- Click the Create filter button.
- Repeat step 2-6 for [email protected].
- Go to your Gmail "Contacts" (it is one of the apps found by clicking the 9 square logo).
- Click "Create Contact".
- Copy and paste the email into the primary email address dialog box.
- Click "Save".
Remove the email from Junk E-Mail
If the mailing is in your "Junk E-Mail Folder", open the email and click the "Not Junk" button.
Add @dbis.edu.hk and [email protected] to your Hotmail Safe List:
- Open your mailbox and click “Options” (upper right hand corner).
- Click the “Junk E-Mail Protection” link.
- Select the “Safe List” link.
- Copy and paste @dbis.edu.hk into the dialog box titled “Type an address or domain”.
- Click the “Add” button next to the dialog box.
- Repeat for [email protected].
Blocked Senders
You should also check that the mailing's email address is not in your Blocked Senders list. You can find your Blocked Senders list by following the directions above and going to "Blocked Senders List" instead of "Safe List". If you see the mailing's from address on this list, select it and click the Remove button.
Add an Address or Domain to Safe Senders
- Select Actions > Junk E-mail > Junk E-mail Options from the menu in Outlook.
- Go to the Safe Senders tab.
- Click Add.
- Type @dbis.edu.hk you want to whitelist.
- Click OK.
- Click OK again.
- Repeat for [email protected].
- DBIS web domain (@dbis.edu.hk),
